Twistin 2nd Apr 2020		Watched some interviews with cast members and apparently the character of Alan Brady was based on Sid Caesar and of course Rob Petrie was based on Carl Reiner himself (Reiner was a comedy writer on Sid Caesar's "Your Show of Shows" and Caesar's Hour.) Hard to imagine Caesar being THAT difficult, but it must be true. I wonder what his reaction was to this characterization.



barahona44 29th Oct 2017		One of the top sitcoms of all time.Well written and touched on a few subjects(albeit very mildly) that others didn't. Van Dyke was gifted at physical comedy and Carl Reiner's occasional appearances as egotistical, overbearing variety show star Alan Brady were hilarious.



23skidoo 7th Jun 2015		Very influential sitcom. It has been named a direct influence on Mad About You and in fact Carl Reiner played Alan Brady in two episodes of the 1990s series, bringing the two shows into the same fictional universe. Van Dyke maintained a successful movie career while appearing in this show, filming the classic musicals Bye Bye Birdie and Mary Poppins between seasons. For some reason a handful of episodes have fallen into public domain.
