Followed by the spin-off/follow-up series The Golden Palace, featuring three of the four main cast members (sans Arthur). The sitcom Empty Nest was also a spin-off, which in turn spun-off the sitcom Nurses.

Remade in the UK as The Brighton Belles. The series was also remade in Russia, Spain, Greece, The Netherlands, The Philippines and Turkey.

Despite playing the eldest character, Estelle Getty was actually several years younger than both Beatrice Arthur - who played her daughter - and Betty White.
