Notes

The series began with Katt's character named Ralph Hinkley. During the first season John Hinckley Jr attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan and the series abruptly changed the character's last name to Hanley, editing dialogue to avoid using the original name. The change was reverted during the second season.

Followed in 1986 by The Greatest American Heroine, a pilot episode for a proposed spin-off featuring several original cast members. The pilot was unsuccessful and was not broadcast on its own; instead, it was reformatted into an additional episode of Greatest American Hero for syndication (the original pilot was eventually released on DVD in 2011).
