Although officially titled The Mary Tyler Moore Show, the on-screen title was only ever just "Mary Tyler Moore".

Spinoffs: the sitcoms Rhoda and Phyllis, and the hour-long dramatic series Lou Grant; Mary Tyler Moore is one of the few sitcoms in TV history to spin off a dramatic series. Followed in 2000 by the "dramedy" TV movie Mary and Rhoda, which served as a follow-up to both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda.

Its final episode was notable for breaking the fourth wall and showing the cast taking a bow in front of the studio audience, something that would later be done for the finales of other series including The Cosby Show.
