Continuation of the 1961-69 series The Avengers.

Although primarily a UK production, it was also co-produced by French and Canadian production houses, and the second season was partially filmed in France and Canada, with the final episodes titled The New Avengers in Canada.

23skidoo 4th Sep 2016		An odd example of a TV series spun off from a TV commercial. In the early 1970s Patrick Macnee and Linda Thorson (Tara King in the original series) made a very popular TV commercial for some product in France, playing Steed and Tara. Apparently one of the networks decided to buy the Avengers to show as a result but discovered the series was no longer in production (these things happened pre-Internet), so they commissioned a new series. Rather than bring Thorson (or Diana Rigg) back they decided to pair Steed with new partners, though they were able to cheat a guest appearance by Rigg in the second season by clever use of footage from a 1960s Avengers episode.
