Selected CastPatrick McGoohan as Number 6
 Angelo Muscat as The Butler
 Peter Swanwick as The Supervisor

Notes

More than a dozen different actors portrayed "Number 2," a character that was replaced after almost every episode: Guy Doleman, George Baker, Leo McKern (3 episodes), Colin Gordon (2 episodes), Eric Portman, Rachel Herbert, Anton Rodgers, Georgina Cookson, Mary Morris, Peter Wyngarde, Patrick Cargill, Derren Nesbitt, Andre Van Gyseghem, John Sharpe, Clifford Evans, David Bauer, Kenneth Griffith.

There is differing opinion (even among those involved in its creation) as to whether this series was a continuation of McGoohan's earlier series Danger Man (aka Secret Agent).

@zabadak. Problem is the two creators of the series differ in their opinion. McGoohan said no, Markstein said yes. I am of the opinion that they were not the same character because, for one thing, we saw Drake's house and his car and neither of them matched what we saw. Also, and this is the deal-killer on the entire notion: McGoohan did not create John Drake. A guy named Ralph Smart did. They could not possibly have created a series about John Drake without Smart being credited and if they'd just done a show where it's Drake in all but name, he probably would have sued. So ultimately I don't think John Drake was No. 6 any more than I think the Drake/No. 6-like character McGoohan played in Columbo a few years later was No. 6, or the character he played in Ice Station Zebra who also was Drake-like, but wasn't John Drake.

But then along comes the guys who were hired to write the official tie-in novels for Ace Books in 1968 and what do they do? The first sentence of Book #2 calls No. 6 "Drake." So what can you do...

It is assumed that #6 is actully Drake after he quit the spy game but it should really stay as a different show...

I prefer this version than the later 're-incarnation' later in 2009.

I seen this when first shown in '67/8, only missed one episode, the cowboy story one!
Then the series was repeated on Channel 4 (?) and saw the missed episode.

Patrick McGoohan has always said that if the series was ever repeated, the TV companies should wait 17 years, after the number of episodes, hopefully that statement was right?

As the notes mentions, could this be a continuation to the Danger Man series, I've always thought it could be!
