This short-lived series (10 episodes, 1 not broadcast) from producer Aaron Spelling was unusual in that it was an hour-long filmed sitcom (most sitcoms are 30 minutes in length and in 1977 most sitcoms were videotaped, not filmed). It was one of several series that experimented with the format (Eight is Enough and The Love Boat were two others). Preceded by the TV movie The San Pedro Bums.

The series existed in the same fictional universe as Charlie's Angels, as there was a crossover appearance in the first episode.
