This relatively obscure sketch comedy series, created as a showcase for British comedian Ullman who had recently gained notoriety in the US, is best known for having the most successful spin-off series in the history of television: The Simpsons, which began as a series of animated shorts incorporated into the series, was spun off as a Christmas special, which was then followed by a weekly series that would run for more than a quarter century.
