 Review
This series ran for four series, adding 110 episodes [32 in black and white,78 in colour].The only two episodes in which Richard Basehart didn`t appear were The Menfish and The Mechanical Man,because of ill health. Also, this series launched the careers, before they came famous such as Leslie Nielsen,June Lockhart and even George Takei [a year before he came as Mr.Sulu in Star Trek] all became household names to achieve stardom. Also,I like the original theme tune best of all.Not to mention,Richard Basehart went on to narrate and played William Knight [in the pilot] in the TV series called Knight Rider, which turn out to be his first final role, when he passed away in 1984.

Thank you for clearing that up. it's been years and years since I'd seen it and all I can remember in my head is VP being a fly.

Rather than tangent this listing with too much detail about an unrelated production, you can find a complete synopsis of the original Fly here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fly_%281958_film%29

So what's The Fly then, a super hero like Iron Man or something?

@Monolith. Vincent Price played the "mad scientist" role in the first two Fly films. He wasn't the Fly himself. Hedison was credited as "Al Hedison" when he made the movie (which incredibly was written by none other than James Clavell!)

I thought the original fly was Vincent Price.

He was also the original Fly

I was reminded of Voyage when I put together the seaQuest DSV entry. The two shows were very similar, especially the seaQuest 2032 season which took on a bit more of a militaristic tone similar to Voyage and they ramped up the SF aspects (similar to Voyage!). David Hedison, by the way, is probably best remembered (outside Voyage) for playing Felix Leiter a couple of times in the Bond films.

I'm probably the only one here who finds the reference amusing, but by pure coincidence, there's a character on this show called C.P.O. (Chief Petty Officer) Sharkey; about a decade after Voyage was made, Don Rickles starred in a sitcom called ... C.P.O. Sharkey.
