nboldock 19th May 2015 | | TVThe Crystal Maze (1990 - 2020) | Brilliant article! Thanks for that.
|
nboldock 17th May 2015 | | TVFamily Guy (1999 - Now) | I was a little surprised nobody had done it :-)
Haven't watched it for a while - I overdosed on it somewhat - but man it's funny...

nboldock 17th May 2015 | | TVEldorado (1992 - 1993) | The BBC's ill-fated soap opera which arrived after months of fanfare from the Beeb, and then when it finally turned up... it was an abomination.
Memorable for all the wrong reasons.

nboldock 16th May 2015 | | TVEurotrash (1993 - 2007) | I really wasn't sure what the hell to put in the genre boxes for this one...!
|
nboldock 16th May 2015 | | TVThe Walking Dead (2010 - 2022) | Each to their own I guess... personally I absolutely love it, completely addicted!
|
nboldock 16th May 2015 | | TVOz (1997 - 2003) | An HBO production, Oz was a gritty, violent and explicit series set in a fictitious high security prison.
It was shown at some ridiculous hour of the night in the UK - can't remember what channel it was on though but would assume Channel 4 or some such (I'm sure it had adverts, and I can't imagine ITV would show anything as graphic as Oz). I stumbled upon series one by chance one night and was hooked immediately.
Highly, highly recommended.
Many of the actors in Oz would go on to even better things - notably Harold Perrineau (inmate and narrator Augustus Hill) and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Adebisi) who would both later go on to star in Lost.

nboldock 16th May 2015 | | TVRobot Wars (1998 - 2004) | Something like a "Science & Technology" genre would have been useful for this one??
|
nboldock 15th May 2015 | | TVThe Tube (1982 - 1987) | The problem with the Jools incident was that it was a trailer for the programme broadcast at teatime I believe ("be there or be a totally ungroovy f***er" wasn't it?). I find it amusing that at the time he was made into some kind of pariah, whereas now he seems to have ascended almost to the level of national treasure. Bless 'im.

nboldock 15th May 2015 | | TVKnightmare (1987 - 1994) | I was moderately obsessed with this programme as a youngster. A lot of them are on YouTube now.

nboldock 12th May 2015 | | TVThe Crystal Maze (1990 - 2020) | Loved it and still do - and I got my son into it via the Challenge TV repeats. The hairstyles, though...
|
nboldock 9th May 2015 | | TVThe Word (1990 - 1995) | I liked The Word, though like you I loathed "The Hopefuls" (the I-will-do-anything-to-be-on-telly sh*t) and the other scatalogical stuff they did (I was also the target audience I think). But the music was great and some of the chat show stuff was also great (the band you refer to was L7 by the way).
For some reason it doesn't appear to be on YouTube but the moment when Mark Lamarr (rightly) lambasted Shabba Ranks for being a homophobic tw*t was worth the entry fee alone.

nboldock 9th May 2015 | | TVThe Fear (2012) | Trailer...

|
nboldock 9th May 2015 | | TVThe Fear (2012) | Four-part crime drama shown on Channel 4. Peter Mullan plays reformed crime boss and now social housing landlord Richie Beckett, who is trying hard to put his violent past behind him. The problem being that Richie is losing his mind to dementia, foreign gangsters have moved onto his turf, and his sons are causing him all manner of strife...
Edgy, violent, and highly recommended. Top class British TV.

nboldock 9th May 2015 | | TVHippies (1999) | Heh heh... tbh the only bit I can recall is the episode where Hugo ends up besotted with Jill, and he's at some kind of folk session and suddenly blurts out "I can't stop thinking about her arse!".
|
nboldock 9th May 2015 | | TVHippies (1999) | I enjoyed it at the time - I haven't actually watched this DVD though so the last time I saw it was first time round in 1999!
The DVD actually has a couple of inserts as well (mocked up sections of Ray's magazine) which is surprising, as you wouldn't have expected them to spend more than the minimum on releasing it, given that it wasn't all that popular in the first place (though as I say, I actually quite liked it).
|
nboldock 8th May 2015 | | TVPrisoners Of War (2009 - 2012) | The Israeli series on which the US series Homeland is (loosely) based.
Series one aired in 2009 (and was later shown in the UK on the Sky Arts channel) and a second series followed in 2012 (again shown on Sky Atlantic).
Very different to Homeland, and in my opinion, superior to the US adaptation as well.
