Nice story John.
I remember further back when some JA Coxsone reissues came with the original UK laminated sleeves, but sadly I never had any sleeveless UK vinyl copies to match them to. I'm sure I've related this story before but Virgin Megastore were selling (in shrink wrap) original UK copies of 'Blue Beat Special' in `79, possibly alongside other UK Coxsone/S1 titles that I never noticed (I daren't think what I might have missed). Likewise some Melodisc comps in shrink too like Holt's 'OK Fred' and 'Sounds of Young Jamaica', which I did buy. Some enterprising individual must have been scouring the warehouses and distributors for old ex-stock Reggae album titles to sell to the Two-Toners.

I got this LP on Vauxhall market in the Smoke about 20 years ago. Think it was around £10/15 for a sleeveless copy on original UK Blue Beat. Subsequently I managed to buy the JA repress with a perfect UK laminated (front) sleeve a few months later! Matched the sleeve with the Blue Beat LP and took the JA vinyl (now sleeveless) to my local record shop for a trade, think I got about £15 worth of trade back.
About a month later I went back in the shop and the owner said to me "Hey, take a look at this on the wall" it was my JA sleeveless reissue vinyl copy on his wall for £300!!! I couldn't believe it, and the fact that he'd completely forgotten that I sold it to him!
