Hi johnny, I think you´re on the wrong trail. The Mercury version (from 1966) is not the same as the Chess-version (recorded 1967) - two different recordings of the same title.

So it fits with the cat# on the label. The 2nd entry (reissue/1977) have not the same cat#, it differs with the prefix 062- and 064-, so it´s correct if they are separated.

You´re right: GEMA indicates german issue, also "made in Germany" in the runout grooves. For german issues of Atlantic/Atco/Volt etc in the 60´s mostly the US-covers are used.
