BEATLEJOHN 2nd Dec 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Introducing The Beatles [Version One] (1964) | A good friend of mine has a most unusual stereo variation of this...Stereo Third cover with titles / Brackets logo label with Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You.....The vinyl plays Ask Me Why / Please, Please Me!...The matrices NEVER changed between the two vinyl versions of the albums, so it's easy to see why the pressing plant had a mix-up! (also if there's one out there, I might assume there's another 100/200 out there!?!?)...John

BEATLEJOHN 2nd Dec 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Introducing The Beatles [Version One] (1964) | Tried to put the cover and label information into some kind of semblance of order...(even though volumes and websites are dedicated to this purpose)...Between Vee-Jay's hurry to get this out -and- Capitol's court injunctions, there are too many anomalies to list here (and on the subsequent issues...monaural and stereophonic!)...John
BEATLEJOHN 26th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (2018) | Technically an error on the cover....a 1966 Capitol album would have a "New And Improved Full Dimensional Stereo" banner not the older 1962-65 version!...John
BEATLEJOHN 27th Jun 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumBee Gees - Idea (1968) | Steve Carp...I wish you would listen,,,, the singles over here (US) have true mono mixes...The song "Idea" would be the biggest give away ( You hear whistles at the beginning after the piano,,,It's a mono mix)....John
BEATLEJOHN 15th Jun 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Elvis Is Back! (1960) | Motley 101....Changed date to 1960....Even though your copy is an orange label from 1969 it still uses it's original catalog number and configuration!...John
BEATLEJOHN 15th Jun 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Phil Spector's Christmas Album (1983) | It's true stereo...It's been my "playing copy" for awhile now!...John
BEATLEJOHN 21st Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumGenesis - A Trick Of The Tail (1981) | This is actually a US release....all MFSL (Mobile Fidelity) issues are pressed in Japan....Changed...John
BEATLEJOHN 21st Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Turtles - Wooden Head (1970) | Okay..the Roulettes version of I Can't Stop is from June 1966 (I don't see any US release)...so the song may very well have been a Bones Howe production and recorded for Late 1966...John
BEATLEJOHN 18th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - The Beatles' Story (1964) | Won't allow me to add in record notes...
-- All promotional covers drilled in corner with either PROMO -or- PROM
-- First press mono covers have upper right corner catalog number ending one inch from end of cover. Later pressings move catalog number close to edge.
-- All pressings (Scranton, Los Angeles and Decca) are configured 1/4//2/3, except for RCA pressings, which are configured 1/2//3/4.
-- Monaural pressings discontinued from catalog 1968.

BEATLEJOHN 8th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones (1966) | I believe (though it's not really documented) that the stereo issue of this album was issued (I would guess) around the time of Aftermath 1966...There are no flat paper stereo covers nor have I ever seen a stereo cover with the "Free Full Color Photo" box - or - the "Start A Stones Fan Club" blurb on the back....Any thoughts...John
BEATLEJOHN 6th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Introducing The Beatles (1973) | Added labels for what is an actual mono boot...I didn't bother to add the cover, (no stereo banner) it's so well reproduced the average fan wouldn't be able to tell the difference!!!..you can see the blue in Ringo's eyes!...But the label isn't as sharp...and the title and artist are split (and it's flexible!)...John
BEATLEJOHN 6th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - File Under: Beatles (1983) | Added images of what I would call the "Budget" version (or say, a boot of a boot!)...John
BEATLEJOHN 3rd Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Help! (1965) | The asterisk indicates an Capitol, LA pressing....interesting!....John
BEATLEJOHN 30th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Help! (1965) | rob2553...it's also not pressed by Capitol...The wide ring seems like a Columbia pressing and it may have "Mastered by Capitol" in the run out groove...John
BEATLEJOHN 28th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Zombies - Odessey And Oracle (1968) | Mr. Lobbers...That's a Columbia printers mark..(my copy doesn't have it, some copies might have a heart shape)...W.B.lbl might have more insight as to what it means....John
BEATLEJOHN 26th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumBruno Lorenzoni Et Son Orchestre - Bruno Lorenzoni Et Son Orchestre (1970) | Millie was a model for two years before acting...they may have grabbed an old stock photo for the cover!?!?
BEATLEJOHN 26th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - American Summer (1975) | Added alternate set of labels without Indianapolis, Ind.........John
BEATLEJOHN 17th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - Do You Wanna Dance? (1971) | The gentleman on the cover in the red shirt was their guide/driver while they were in Mexico.
- John
BEATLEJOHN 16th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | The cover is Canadian....the labels are from the USA....John
BEATLEJOHN 14th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - The Beach Boys' Christmas Album (1964) | Added side one Jacksonville label.....unfortunately there's two side one labels on my album...John
BEATLEJOHN 12th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Everly Brothers - Two Yanks In England (1966) | A US stereo cover on a UK mono entry...rockintc strikes again!!
BEATLEJOHN 12th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Everly Brothers - Christmas With The Everly Brothers And The Boys Town Choir (1962) | Another US cover
BEATLEJOHN 12th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Everly Brothers - It's Everly Time (1960) | I'm seeing a mono US cover,,,in fact it's a copy of 55 Bluesmans image!!!
BEATLEJOHN 12th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Zombies - Odessey And Oracle (1968) | Wouldn't an original front cover image have a CBS logo in the upper left corner?????...John
BEATLEJOHN 12th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - With The Beatles (1963) | Why is the release of this and the mono release two weeks before the UK issue???.....I suspect it's closer to the date on the white label...John
BEATLEJOHN 20th Oct 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Let It Be (1970) | It's still a bootleg!...as weird as it is finding it in Germany!...probably because it was cheap...(they were all over the place, commonly found in major chain stores!)....John
BEATLEJOHN 12th Sep 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Let It Be (1970) | You can have all the theories you want....the simple fact is the album went out of print by 1975...and was bootlegged...the album went back in print on Capitol in 1979....the boots satisfied a need during the interim.....unless you bought an imported copy....John
BEATLEJOHN 24th Aug 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Yardbirds - Little Games (1967) | Its not mis-pressed (The DJ copies are true mono)....It was intentional....they just used the same stamper for both pressings....save a few bucks and charge a buck more for the stereo release anyway....besides the US labels knew mono was gone by mid 1968....
BEATLEJOHN 8th Aug 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSimon And Garfunkel - Bookends (1968) | Ordway...forgive me for replying that way...but what is scary is there are alternate mixes on US pressings...My friend Steve has a folded down mono copy also...same stampers as my copy with the exception his disc does not have a -1 on side one...
