-- first cover known as "Ad Back" has 25 other Vee-Jay Lps showing/ Front cover has "Printed In USA" on lower left side.
-- second cover known as "Blank Back" has nothing printed on back slick / Front cover has "Printed In USA" on lower left side.
-- third cover known as "Title/Column Back" has song titles along with newer "Brackets" Vee-Jay logo showing / some front covers have "Printed In USA" showing on lower left side....most do not! (This cover has been bootlegged, genuine records have "Introducing The Beatles" and The Beatles above the spindle hole...AND the Lps are unbendable!)
-- note: all originally pressed stereo "Version One" covers use the pre-printed white stereo banner
-- release discontinued by end of January 1964.
I also own a FAKE-Copy.
Frontcover with the white Stereophonic Banner. The coverphoto is complete slightly over-exposed and the faces of the four Beatles are light unsharp.
Backcover is white with the black lettering and the VJ-Logo in Brackets.
My copy has the Brackets-Logo-Variant, with the rainbow-rim, wich is very unsharp and the darker coloures turn into black.
The inscription is as the FAKE-Copys are known for. Below the spindle-hole stands The Beatles and above the spindle-hole stands Introducing the Beatles.
My Vinyl-record sounds very good and it is a really thick pressing.
I found it in Germany years ago in a collection of older Vinyl-records of a private seller.
A good friend of mine has a most unusual stereo variation of this...Stereo Third cover with titles / Brackets logo label with Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You.....The vinyl plays Ask Me Why / Please, Please Me!...The matrices NEVER changed between the two vinyl versions of the albums, so it's easy to see why the pressing plant had a mix-up! (also if there's one out there, I might assume there's another 100/200 out there!?!?)...John
I have two interesting stereo counterfeit copies of this LP. One has the brown border around the outside of the front cover (and obvious indication it's fake) that I bought for $3 at a record show. The vinyl plays in mono but the sound quality is very good. A second fake I own has a very convincing cover as it has the 1/4 inch cardboard overlap inside the cover and the printing quality is sharp and excellent. I would almost believe it was an authentic stereo album cover except it has 'Love Me Do' and 'P.S. I Love You' listed in the columns on the back, which are extremely rare so, it's VERY doubtful the cover is authentic - it's just a well-made fake. The vinyl has a flat black label with silver printing. The record title and 'The Beatles' are separated by the spindle hole and the space between the label and the record grooves is just a bit larger than 1 inch - a sure sign that the vinyl is fake. yet, the record plays in true stereo (except "Love Me Do' and P.S. I Love You' which are both in mono) and in excellent sound quality. 'I Saw Her Standing There' is missing the "1, 2, 3" part of the '1, 2, 3, 4..' countdown, just like the legitimate copies.
