BenLPMarts 17th Oct 2024		Vinyl Album The Raiders - Indian Reservation (1971)	BB review 12 June 71 pg 56 . First ARSA mention 5.28.71 on Seattle T40 KJR. I'd guess a street date was 7 June 71. Radio promos put this late May. Mods consider moving this back from an April to May 1971 release.

BenLPMarts 14th Oct 2024		Vinyl Album Roger Miller - Golden Hits (1965)	I didn't see a review but this LP charted BB 13 Nov '65 and was listed as a National Breakout Album in same issue pg 40.
BenLPMarts 14th Oct 2024		Vinyl Album Roger Miller - The Return Of Roger Miller (1964)	BB review 6 Feb 1965 back pg 72. Mods I think you need to back this one from the posted Oct 64 to Jan 65. I feel a street date 2 Feb 65 but radio promos def in Jan as 1st ARSA mentions 1.17.65 at T40 San Diego KCBQ then 2 more 1.23.65 in SD & South Bend IN. Yes the adv sgls were rel. 11-64 [Do Wacka] & 1-65 [King] but it feels like the LP dropped right after KotR was rel.
BenLPMarts 9th Oct 2024		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Fletch (1985)	CB review too for 6 July 85 [pg 8]. R&R 1st appearance 5 July 85. Odd for a film that was released 31 May 85 for a soundtrack packed with hit-makers Stephanie Mills, Harold Faltermeyer, Dan Hartman and the Fixx to squeak out 2 barely made it hits. Dan Hartman's Get Out hit UK-99 and the Fixx likely bubbled under the BB-50 rock tracks as it got to R&R AOR-51 and tracked for over a month. I love this Fixx track which deserved better.
BenLPMarts 8th Oct 2024		Vinyl Album The Fixx - Walkabout (1986)	Thx for the lead JWM and the link but I couldn't find your story. My system 6 yrs later found this: R&R added the LP 5.23.86. BB review 5.31.86 pg 60 and they charted it 14 June. My take is a US street date of 5.26.86 so scoot this fwd to a May release.
BenLPMarts 8th Oct 2024		Vinyl Album Various Artists - Streets Of Fire (1984)	Likely came out end of May. Chart R&R AOR airplay 18 May 84 pg 68. Wiki shows OST 5.29.84 which I loath using for fact checks but the film did come out 1 June 84 so really bump this forward to a May '84 release. Movie may have flopped at box office but there are some great songs here. Mod edit: month of release corrected.
BenLPMarts 5th Oct 2024		Vinyl Album Crack The Sky - Photoflamingo (1981)	I went crazy trying to find anything better than a release date of 1981 when I was remastering my CtS collection earlier this year. I did a 1-last-last quadruple-check and lo & behold found the BB review in the 22 Aug 81 issue pg 58 [using my firefox browser instead of google]. So feel free to update release to Aug '81 or dare I say it 18 Aug 81 if you believe in Tuesday street dates and trust BB to review an album on time. No reviews in CB or RW. I scanned R&R and found med airplay on DC101 in Washington [no Balto AOR?] so def an Aug release. Glad to see my personal guess of May '81 was off.

BenLPMarts 3rd Oct 2024		Vinyl Album Al Hirt And Ann-Margret - Beauty And The Beard (1964)	Some long-winded sleuth deductions as I was 6 when this came out and I was into Mighty Mouse and Mickey Mouse club and about to Meet the Beatles in Jan 64. Al Hirt released Java on his Honey in the Horn LP 8-63. Java took off in Dec and was blowing up in Jan 64 [RCA full-pg ad 1.4.64]. RCA also had Ann-Margret, the female Elvis under contract and she was hot being in Bye Bye Birdie in '62. She had filmed and recorded with Elvis July 63 Viva Las Vegas not out til summer 64.. So I don't know who but someone paired her up with Al Hirt who also recorded in Nashville likely to get him some pop vocals which Java showed he didn't need. So Al is on fire in Jan with Java which has been out since Aug. To cut to the chase, this LP was released to radio in the new year same time RCA is working Java. ARSA mentions out of the box for Beauty LP airplay 1.4.64. There were no official 45s rel from this duo of Al & Ann. RCA put a full-pg advert in CB 1.18.64 pg 49. A mini was also in the RCA 'new releases' advert BB 1.11.64 along with 5 other LP pics and text of 5 other titles as advance set-up adverts. This got reviews in the 1.25.64 issues of CB pg 24 & BB pg 58 making me think the street date was 20 Jan 64..BB gave it an after-the fact 'New Action Breakout Album' BB mention 2.1.64 pg 10. As all thst was going on them Beatles were getting hyped on TV and by Capitol and VeeJay & Swan & Toll & MGM. Anyway, it feels like this duet LP slipped thru RCA's cracks, The LP likely sold better but radio esp in STL & SF were bahging the LP but with no actual 45 radio in Worcester, Wilmington, Allentown, San Bernadino, Tucson & Anchorage fizzled out. RCA DID release a box set of the LP on 45s and also a special 6-trk EP for jukeboxes. Poor Ann was also fighting RCA's busy schedule of Chet, Odestta, Sam Cook and even Al Himself who had a good run of hits after Java in '64. All this writing to say [IMO] "LP rel 20 Jan 64." Also my posting about Al Hirt is for my long-dead father who's love of Al [& Pete Fountain, Chet, Boots, Les Paul, etc] I couldn't fathom at the start of the Beatlemania rock era.

R&R chart 6.24.83. 1st ARSA mention 6.25.24 on AOR CILQ Toronto tho next not til 7.2.83 on AOR Toronto CHUM-FM. BB review 7.2.83 pg 59. I didn't see a CB review. Charted BB & CB 7.9.83 [sorry, late night post using 'bad' mm.dd.yr]. I'm posting this in my collection as street date 6.27.83.

BenLPMarts 27th Sep 2024		Vinyl Album Joe Walsh - There Goes The Neighborhood (1981)	I've never seen an 'add' at ARSA radio like this LP. This def went to AOR on 1 May 81. BB, CB & RW reviews all 9 May 81 [BB pg 66; CB pg 19; RW (pg 1?)]. [Pg 1 is missing from my sources but this LP was #1 Flashmaker in same issue so I'd wager Joe's LP review was on the cover]. I am NOT questioning Warlock but it shows the nature of 'when exactly is an album [or 45] released? When it goes to radio? or when you can buy it in the shops? [the 'street date', which is MY benchmark].

BenLPMarts 25th Sep 2024		Vinyl Album Al Hirt - Soul In The Horn (1967)	I was frustrated I couldn't find a review or exact date for this LP release, It doesn't show up in RCA adverts made in early August. The first ARSA airplay is on MOR KDEO El Cajon [SD] CA 28 Aug 67 and if you read that list it doesn't say 'new release'. Promos can go out prior to actual sales street date. Oddly the only Al Hirt review I did find was for the RCA Camden Al Hirt release Struttin' Down Royal Street and I reckon RCA wouldn't step on one of their own releases [tho majors make mistakes]. I did find a BB mention in the 9 Sept 67 issue showing Soul/Horn as a Sept 1967 New Album Release for RCA Victor [pg 50]. And snooping more just now found this title in the Sept RCA released in same 9.9.67 issue advert pg 33. To make a point, promos were out the 4th week of Aug and went into shops the first week/s of Sept. I guess Al lost hist luster and wasn't getting reviewed much as an LP artist. Sad too that AllMusic shows this [incorrectly] as a 12/67 release.
