LaurenceD SUBS 14th May 2017		Vinyl Album Andre Kostelanetz With Johnny Cash - The Lure Of The Grand Canyon (1961)	The sound effects, which were recorded at the Grand Canyon, do not really intrude upon the integrity of the suite, but are inserted between movements and then repeated during Johnny Cash's narrated track. Not a bad rendition of Grofé's suite; I'd like to hear a stereo copy.

LaurenceD SUBS 19th Jan 2017		Vinyl Album Paul Simon - The Paul Simon Song Book (1965)	Added labels which differ slightly around the ℗ 1965. My cover is the same as that of Ade Macrow, but it's probably not a very early pressing. It has the same "Sounds of the 70s" inner sleeve as the one shown here with the Bridge Over Troubled Water LP.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Jan 2017		Vinyl Album Bee Gees - Gotta Get A Message To You (1974)	Two tracks on this collection warrant a mention: - "One Million Years" is a stereo remix with a different lead vocal track. - "It Doesn't Matter Much To Me" is not the B-side recording, but a different version that was intended for the Kick In The Head LP. The enclosed booklet has them in the correct order. I'm not sure about the release date. Both http://folkways.si.edu and http://samhinton.org list this as a 1966 release. But the back cover shows © 1967 ...

There were three competing releases that I'm aware of, apparently released on the same day: - Columbia XX2: "His Holiness Pope Paul VI Mission To America, October 4, 1965" - MGM E-433-D: "An Historic Occasion Pope Paul VI Visits New York City October 4, 1965" - Audio Fidelity AFLP 2152: Pope Paul In America"

LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Dec 2015		Vinyl Album Dinah Washington - Music For Late Hours (1956)	A collection of tracks from previously released singles (the liner notes do not mention this). The earliest track, "I Can't Get Started With You" is from 1946 (Mercury 2052); the latest "Until Sunrise" from 1954 (Mercury 70336). The rest are from 1950-51.

I'm not certain as to when this was released. The Billboard review suggests late 1964, so I went with that. And I would think that this LP was mainly intended to capitalize on the two Kingsmen releases (Louie Louie in 1963, Death of an Angel in 1964), but I wouldn't have thought that Flip was still pressing records at that late date.

LaurenceD SUBS 10th May 2015		Vinyl Album Homer And Jethro - The Far-Out World Of Homer And Jethro (1972)	I think that this was the final Homer and Jethro release on RCA Victor. Henry D. "Homer" Haynes had passed away on Aug 7, 1971. Jethro gives a nice summary of their career in the liner notes.
