LaurenceD SUBS 8th May 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Everly Brothers - It's Everly Time (1960) | Added missing images - and I hid that errant image (1956099)
LaurenceD SUBS 6th May 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Western Jamboree (1959) | The album included a booklet insert with English song lyrics (missing from my copy).
LaurenceD SUBS 3rd May 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumPatsy Cline - Sentimentally Yours (1973) | Hi PhilMH,
I entered the year 1973 when I submitted this item, and that was admittedly an estimate. The May month was added by user stephenwyatt1967; I don't know anything about that...
LaurenceD SUBS 30th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Glory Of Their Times | As I understand it, Larry Ritter had these albums pressed (1000 or so) and sold them by mail for $3.95. Some copies of his book contained a card with a mail-in offer.
I don't have a release date, but:
- the cover states that the tapes had been given to the BBHOF
- and the BBHOF archives indicate: "The collection was donated to the Museum by Ritter in late 1968"
... so the LP was most likely available by 1969 or sometime thereafter.

LaurenceD SUBS 27th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumChuck Berry - Fresh Berry’s (1965) | Here are the (hand-etched) numbers: SR4S-4544-1 / SR4S-4545-1A
LaurenceD SUBS 27th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumBobby Hebb - Sunny (1966) | Added scans for cover and labels. I hid the existing image (499442), as that one appears to be from a CD release, as seen here.
LaurenceD SUBS 27th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumChuck Berry - Fresh Berry’s (1965) | Added alternate labels { 3276124, 3276125 }. On these, B5 composer credits = Demetrius, Moore
LaurenceD SUBS 21st Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumGabor Szabo - High Contrast (1971) | The labels credit Gabor Szabo/Bobby Womack; and, some pressings have a sticker on shrinkwrap: Featuring Bobby Womack
LaurenceD SUBS 17th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumShirley Bassey - The Spectacular Shirley Bassey (1966) | Added back cover and labels with cat# WC 16330.
I kept the SRW 16660 numbers for this entry, based on the info from the original submitter; it would be helpful to see the back cover and labels with the SRW numbers, if they are available.

LaurenceD SUBS 15th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumTony St. Thomas - Introducing Tony St. Thomas Vol. 1 (1969) | According to the liner notes, at the time of this release Tony was performing at the Yacht Haven Hotel at St. Thomas, U. S. Virgin Islands. This LP was probably available for purchase at those appearances.
An Ebay link showing an advert (date unknown) for his gig at that hotel: hotel ad

LaurenceD SUBS 11th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Sharp Cuts (1980) | Planet made some effort to promote these bands... The Cash Box April 26 issue indicates that they arranged a gig at the Starwood in Los Angeles featuring Bates Motel, Single Bullet Theory and The Willys, as well as dates in New York and San Francisco for other bands on this release.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumChuck Berry - Afterschool Session (1957) | Added scans for an alternate cover { 3262560, 3262561 } which I suppose is from a later pressing. The labels on this copy are the same as those from make1968 { 689393, 689394 }.
Funny thing about my pressing... found it in a secondhand shop, brought it home and played it. Side one sounded fine, then I turned it over and played side two. Expecting to hear "Brown Eyed Handsome Man", I instead heard a harmonica instrumental. It became apparent that I was listening to side two of The Best of Little Walter! Looking at the runouts confirmed it: Side one shows CHESS-8448 as expected. Side two, which should show CHESS-8449, instead has 8649 Δ501 ... Anyone else ever seen a mistake like that?

LaurenceD SUBS 9th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumSammy Davis Jr. - Sammy Davis Jr. Salutes The Stars Of The London Palladium (1964) | I see that the UK release was reviewed about 6 months prior to this one.
LaurenceD SUBS 5th Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Clancy Brothers And Tommy Makem - The Rising Of The Moon (1956) | Added b-side label which omits track 7 - though the record does play that track.
LaurenceD SUBS 3rd Apr 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Roto Rooter Good Time Christmas Band - The Roto Rooter Good Time Christmas Band (1974) | I'm afraid that mine is just like yours. I wonder if the quad reference is another one of their jokes...

Runouts on my copy: CS-1056-1 / CS-1056-2
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumCarl McKnight - The Devil's Out Tonight (1976) | I'm not sure what to make of those liner notes, but it might be worth mentioning that the band had previously released two LPs on Ranwood, and apparently that record company still owed them money from a Nov 1975 contract.
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumCy Touff - Miff Mole (1957) | The album notes state that four of the tracks were recorded by Miff Mole in 1949, although they do not specify which tracks. It's apparent that tracks B1-B4 are from the Premium singles PR-852 and PR-853 from 1950.
And I think that those tracks were actually recorded in March of 1950.
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumChuck Thompson - Country Guitars (1967) | From liner notes: "A staff guitarist for the Guitar Division of the Baldwin Piano and Organ Company"
- I see that the Baldwin guitar and amp are prominently displayed. :-)
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumKirk Kelly - Go Man Go (1988) | From Corporate Rock Sucks: The Rise and Fall of SST Records by Jim Ruland (2022):
"Kelly's record bears the distinction of being the least like any other album on the label because of its utterly conventional sound."
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumLester Flatt And The Nashville Grass - The One And Only ... Lester Flatt (1970) | Tentatively dating this to 1970, 'tho the actual release could have been early 1971.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumAstronaut John H. Glenn, Jr. - The First American Manned Orbital Flight (1962) | Regarding the music: I remember Bruce Herschensohn (1932-2022) as a political commentator and a U.S. senate candidate in California, but I didn't know that he composed music as well.
LaurenceD SUBS 11th Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumKay Starr - The Hits Of Kay Starr (1954) | I think that the scans from the Duophonic release (DT-415) belong in a separate entry.
