Added scans for an alternate cover { 3262560, 3262561 } which I suppose is from a later pressing. The labels on this copy are the same as those from make1968 { 689393, 689394 }.

Funny thing about my pressing... found it in a secondhand shop, brought it home and played it. Side one sounded fine, then I turned it over and played side two. Expecting to hear "Brown Eyed Handsome Man", I instead heard a harmonica instrumental. It became apparent that I was listening to side two of The Best of Little Walter! Looking at the runouts confirmed it: Side one shows CHESS-8448 as expected. Side two, which should show CHESS-8449, instead has 8649 Δ501 ... Anyone else ever seen a mistake like that?

No British issue. The only early Chuck LP issued in the UK was "One Dozen Berrys"(London).

Reminds me of the time I nearly got in a fist fight over a box of LP's at a Church rummage sale of all things - - The other c ombatant and I stepped outside (just didn't seem right to duke it out in the sanctity of the church) - but we ended up settling down - and actually became collecting buddies down the road - I learned this year that my rival passed away and now resides in Vinyl Collector's Heaven where he will have all the record collecting angels he can handle in one big fist fest!

I purchased my copy in August 1968 in a junk shop in the centre of Middlesbrough in the north of England. I paid 12/6 (12 shillings and 6 pence) or 62.5 pence in current parlance. This was the going rate at the time for albums sold by junk shops. I was beaten to the second-hand 78s by a wise guy who grabbed a couple almost knocking me over. After we paid for our purchases the wise guy, the junk shop owner and myself chatted. The 78 that he unceromoniously grabbed from under my nose turned out to be Rock Around The Clock by Bill Haley and Comets on UK Brunswick label. He glanced at my purchases, (with an insinuating look that said his Rock Around The Clock 78 was the better purchase) After School Session by Chuck Berry on Chess US label, his first album and Younger Than Yesterday by The Byrds on Columbia US label. US issue records, singles or albums rarely turned up in junk shops in the north of England. In fact they rarely turned up anywhere in England. I was fairly sure then that I had the better deal in buying the two albums. Time has proved me right. Anyone seen a copy of After School Session first print recently? The album sleeve front and back and the setting of the type on the label are slightly different to the sleeve shown here. I will post mine when I get some time.

The 2nd ever Chess LP? One of my favorite albums, too: purchased in the summer of 1990 - from a tiny and smoky used record shop in L.A.
