moorlock2003 22nd Jun 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Hollies - The Hollies (1966) | Here is the great track “Stewball”, played live by the band up until 1968, not released in the US at all.

moorlock2003 31st Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Tremeloes - Even The Bad Times Are Good / Silence Is Golden (1967) | The second of 3 Epic LPs by the band that suffer from being electronically rechannelled to simulate stereo. Stick with mono.

moorlock2003 31st Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Tremeloes - Suddenly You Love Me (1968) | ReviewA mishmash of tracks but some gems here. The soul covers are uniformly blah but “Suddenly Winter” is a psych gem and several more of the band originals are quite good. Avoid the stereo version; it is electronically rechannelled to simulate stereo and sounds tinny compared to the preferred mono version.

moorlock2003 25th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Tremeloes - World Explosion! (1968) | ReviewHorrible cover Art aside, this is a hodge-podge of mostly lame cover tunes, three group originals, plus their recent single Helule Helule. As with every Tremeloes album, one must be at-the-ready to lift the tonearm when an offending track comes along.

moorlock2003 25th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Tremeloes - Even The Bad Times Are Good / Silence Is Golden (1967) | The original title of the LP was “ Keep on comin on”, but was hastily retitled after the two hits, as was customary of Epic.

moorlock2003 5th Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Honeycombs - All Systems Go! (1965) | Also released on Canadian Pye with altered cover Art; blue lettering against white background.

moorlock2003 23rd Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumDave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick And Tich - If No-One Sang (1968) | This album is frustrating, as about 60% is great while the others are pure dreck. Their version of "If I Were a Carpenter" is my favorite. It should have been a single.

moorlock2003 23rd Oct 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumDave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick And Tich - Greatest Hits (1966) | The stereo version has about half true stereo tracks while the others are "rechannelled for stereo"

moorlock2003 24th Aug 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Hollies - The Hollies Greatest Hits (1973) | What a frustrating release this was. Crappy cover art, inadequate song selection, liner notes with inaccurate info, and a general feeling of why? Epic should have recorded the band on their US tour and put out a live album. They gave Poco a live album why not The Hollies? Terrible missed opportunity here.
