musictom SUBS 24th Oct 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Elektra's Best (1969) | Don't see Pete Helfrich's name inscribed.
musictom SUBS 25th Sep 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumBurt Bacharach - Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid (1969) | Looks like the printer screwed up on {494506 - 494507}. Both sides should say at the top "Original Score Composed And Conducted By". Side A has it at top and bottom. Side B is missing it. Side A got Side B's text.
musictom SUBS 19th Aug 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumCreedence Clearwater Revival - Green River (1969) | I suppose pressing plants could have started shipping but there would have been no one at the distributors to receive them on Sunday.
musictom SUBS 20th Jun 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Kinks - Kinda Kinks (1965) | Anybody know if these tracks in true stereo?
musictom SUBS 20th Apr 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumHerb Alpert And The Tijuana Brass - The Lonely Bull (1962) | Here is a set from Monarch. Much like BEATLEJOHN's 584032/584033. Except Matrix number begins with SP rather than ST also Cat # is SP-101 rather than 101-S.
musictom SUBS 14th Feb 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumHumble Pie - Lost And Found (1972) | As Safe As Yesterday Is briefly appeared in the U.S. on the failing Immediate label in 1969.
musictom SUBS 31st Jan 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Move - Split Ends (1972) | I just found a copy where the inner sleeve is red rather than orange. I'll send in images when I can.
Here is the red sleeve.
musictom SUBS 25th Jan 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumMary Wells - Greatest Hits (1964) | This album stayed in the catalog "forever". I know it was in the catalog in 1979.
musictom SUBS 23rd Jun 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumHubert Laws - In The Beginning (1974) | I think Motown made a mistake on this cat # when they took over distribution of CTI. The last number is supposed to signify how many records are in the album. So this probably should have been CTX 3 + 3 S2.
musictom SUBS 23rd Jun 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumStevie Wonder - Where I'm Coming From (1971) | I worked for a Motown distributor in the '70s. We received a shipment of Motown cut-outs, shrink wrapped. I picked up a couple early Stevie Wonders.
musictom SUBS 13th May 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumMick Abrahams - Mick Abrahams (1971) | He is correct. The guide for adding images on 45WORLDS says nothing about cropping to a white background, as 45CAT does. An over sight?
However, as Leonard said: white background is the house style.
musictom SUBS 13th May 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumYesterday And Today - Struck Down (1978) | I have AL on London indicating Allentown Record Co. Is that the same thing?
musictom SUBS 23rd Apr 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumRod Stewart - Sing It Again Rod (1973) | Although labels say made in U.S.A., this must have been for the UK market. Cat number is not US. Also back of innerfold lists a London address for public performance information.
musictom SUBS 2nd Nov 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | Jock_Girl: Interesting. During the late '60s-early '70s, I worked at a college radio station. Capitol did service us for free. But they were not as liberal as WEA or RCA. Most albums had a rather large hole punched in the corner.
Incidentally retailers did not punch holes in albums to discount them. Manufacturers did that and dumped them into the distribution channels.
musictom SUBS 24th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Kinks - The Kinks Greatest Hits! (1966) | Oh yea. Most of these tracks were played constantly on the West Coast. The only two I don't recall from the radio are: Till The End Of The Day (one my very favorites) and Ev'rybody's Gonna Be Happy.
musictom SUBS 19th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request (1967) | Image {650014} via Diognes and TheJudge has a small 53 in the lower left corner. I assume this means a later pressing by Keel Mfg. Corp?
musictom SUBS 14th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Chiffons - Everything You Always Wanted To Hear By The Chiffons But Couldn't Get (1975) | About half the tracks are in common?
musictom SUBS 24th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - White Mansions (1978) | Moved along with front which seems to be from the same record.
Greg: Can you add UK front cover?
musictom SUBS 14th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl Album10cc - 100cc (1975) | The blue images are enhanced versions of the aqua ones for readability. They are not true representations of UK labels.
musictom SUBS 7th Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumGeorge Burns - George Burns Sings (1968) | This youtube clip is of the Tonight Show from 1973. In the clip this album is talked about and part of a review in the New York Times is read.
[YouTube Video]
musictom SUBS 5th Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Fall Release (1976) | I put this releases as November 1976 as that is the month we show for the O. C. Smith single on 45CAT.
musictom SUBS 23rd Oct 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumLaurel And Hardy - Original Motion Picture Sound-Tracks (1973) | No catalog number on some covers. The picture disc has the catalog number in the dead wax. Also dead wax shows Δ15364 and Δ15364-X but MR in a circle scratched out. I wonder if that means the black version was pressed at Monarch and for the picture disc, they used the same parts at another plant?
musictom SUBS 21st Oct 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - To Elvis: Love Still Burning (1978) | With acknowledgement to Trester, here are cover images cropped a little better plus images of the record.
musictom SUBS 21st Oct 2016 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - The Sleeping Beauty | Looks like record was pressed by Columbia, Bridgeport, CT. I don't have the Instructions supposedly enclosed.
musictom SUBS 18th Oct 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumPeter Frampton - I'm In You (1977) | My copy {1171337 - 1171339} has the Monarch MR in dead wax and the same deltas as the stock copy: Δ22277 & Δ22277-X.
musictom SUBS 18th Oct 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumGreg Kihn Band - Kihnspiracy (1983) | Here is a back cover with the bar code but without the Columbia House mention at bottom.
musictom SUBS 17th Oct 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumHerb Alpert And The Tijuana Brass - Herb Alpert's Ninth (1967) | This must have not have been a great seller, by 1973 it had been deleted from the catalogue whereas most of the rest of the TJB albums were still in print.
musictom SUBS 17th Oct 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumHerb Alpert's Tijuana Brass - South Of The Border (1964) | Here is another set of images from Monarch, biggest difference is in the word "STEREO". Same deltas as previously listed. A side has Δ7852 scratched out.
musictom SUBS 16th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElectric Light Orchestra - Balance Of Power (1986) | Often times, at least in the US, when a label needed a promo copy but had run out of the specially made up ones, they would take a stock copy and some how mark it with a sticker, stamp or hole.
musictom SUBS 2nd Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumAndré Kostelanetz And His Orchestra - Wonderland Of Christmas | Looks like the type setter for the labels assumed too much. The word STEREO is not part of the title. Possibly he grabbed it from the front cover.
