sladesounds 25th Feb 2016		Vinyl Album The Nightingales - Pigs On Purpose (1982)	This album has "Nightingales" on label, spine and front yet the back cover refers to the band as "The Nightingales" as does the song-writing credits. They refer to themselves on their web page as Nightingales even though the web address is http://thenightingales.org.uk/ !!

He co-wrote,arranged and produced all songs as well as playing nearly all the instruments on the album and providing backing vocals. His mother Mo also gains an album credit as being "the producer of the producer". [YouTube Video]

sladesounds 22nd Feb 2016		Vinyl Album Billie Holiday With Ray Ellis And His Orchestra - Lady In Satin (2016)	The third instalment of the Jazz On 33⅓ Series, this is the first issue that displays a unique barcode and cat# unlike the previous issues that used the original US cat#'s. We will have to wait and see what format the cat#s will take on future releases. This excellent album rightly features in the book "1001 Albums you must hear before you die". [YouTube Video]

sladesounds 27th Jan 2016		Vinyl Album Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue (2016)	I have just listened to my copy and it does sound better than the CD version I already had. It certainly is good enough for me (especially at £4.99). Just in case you haven't read the small print there is 40 albums in the series being issued at a rate of 2 a month. Seems a great idea but I would love to know what the 40 albums are actually going to be. What we need now is a similar approach with something like the Vertigo label - that would be cool :) or maybe a World Music on 33 series.

sladesounds 20th Jan 2016		Vinyl Album Ry Cooder - Boomer's Story (1972)	Review Ry Cooder's third album that, like the previous two, digs deep into the American music past covering songs written by the likes of Sleepy John Estes & Skip James as well as some traditional material. You can see from the Back Cover Scan that the copyright print at the base of the sleeve is poorly copied from the original. Perhaps someone knows what the "7148" printed there stands for.
sladesounds 24th Dec 2015		Vinyl Album John Coltrane - Coltrane Plays The Blues (2010)	I have moved this from Atlantic [USA] to Atlantic [Europe]. The American 2010 re-issue of this album (via Rhino) is clearly marked on the reverse with Made in America unlike this version endorsed with Made in Europe.

In this case to get the break and album title above track O1 I typed the track title as: Sun International SECTIONBREAK Kay Hope that helps and points you in the right direction All we need now is for scans to be put up ;-)

sladesounds 14th Dec 2015		Vinyl Album Alice Cooper - From The Inside (1978)	The front and rear of this sleeve has hinged flaps that open out (as shown in the scans). There is also a hinged flap on the inside being the door marked "quiet room". Inside the door is the legend *"Inmates - In memory of Moonie"* a reference to Keith Moon a member of Alice's drinking club "The Hollywood Vampires" who had died a few weeks prior to the albums release.
sladesounds 5th Dec 2015		Vinyl Album Black Sabbath - Master Of Reality (1976)	I have, based on the back cover and labels amended this release to 1976. This 1971 album seems to have first been reissued then and also again in the 1980s. Can any one confirm this as it will affect the other NEMS Black Sabbath reissues.
