TopPopper 3rd Oct 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumPaul McCartney - All The Best! (1987) | Do all these singles belong here? They're cool but maybe belong on 45Cat?
TopPopper 29th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumElectric Light Orchestra - Masters Of Rock: Showdown | Shuffled.
TopPopper 25th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumRandy Edelman - Farewell Fairbanks (1976) | [YouTube Video]
Great version of a fine song.
TopPopper 25th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Help! (Socorro!) | "I Need You" is given as "Te Necesito" - which sounds like it should translate as "You are Necessary". I kinda like that title!
TopPopper 25th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The In Crowd (1966) | Get your image prepared and saved on your computer. Then click "Add Image" near the bottom of this page. It will bring up a box - you can either drag your photo onto it, or search through your PC folders to locate it. Once it's been selected, give it a name and press "upload".
TopPopper 25th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Springbok Hit Parade 12 (1973) | Added - full set of scans.
TopPopper 24th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Dylan - The Times They Are A-Changin' (1964) | [YouTube Video]
The guy behind can't believe what he's hearing.
TopPopper 24th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumLaura Nyro - Eli And The Thirteenth Confession (1968) | [YouTube Video]
No images yet, but hear a great song...
TopPopper 24th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumNick Drake - Bryter Layter (1970) | [YouTube Video]
TopPopper 24th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumGeorge Harrison - All Things Must Pass (1970) | [YouTube Video]
One of my favourite solo Beatles tracks - probably my fave from George, anyway.
TopPopper 24th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumWings - Wild Life (1971) | Original pressings had a bright yellow inner sleeve. I'll add it shortly. "Tomorrow" is an interesting song - a counterpart to "Yesterday", it has the same chord sequence, but sounds completely different.
TopPopper 24th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumOlivia Newton-John / Electric Light Orchestra - Xanadu (1980) | Added - extra sticker, which my copy has in the top-right corner.
TopPopper 17th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Ao Vivo ... And The Beatles Were Born ... | Bizarre. And why do the labels mention Tony Sheridan?
TopPopper 17th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Reel-To-Reel Outtakes 1963 (2016) | Not wishing to take this out of the shrink-wrap makes photography difficult, as the plastic is highly reflective. That said, the apparent distortion on the front, where there appear to be wonky edges (particularly in the top-left corner) is actually part of the design. The frame is not supposed to be square.
TopPopper 12th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumCarpenters - Singles 1974-1978 (1978) | John Woloschuk and Terry Draper wrote it - they were members of the band, Klaatu. There appear to have been some rather lax proof readers around in the 70s.
TopPopper 6th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumNilsson - Pussy Cats (1974) | Anyone spot the hidden message under the table?
TopPopper 29th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Sound Sensations - Pop Concert (1979) | Images added, including the "rather natty green vinyl".
All tracks are from the Chevron label's bank of covers recordings of the late-70s (all but one pulled from the "Parade of Pops" series).
TopPopper 28th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | My local Sainsbury's have sold out. (You can still get Revolver and Sgt Pepper LPs though, while picking up your milk and baked beans.) Would be interested to know if airbrushed copies do exist though.
TopPopper 28th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Sparkling Sounds (1974) | Images added. So could kids just go into Woolworth's and buy this - regardless of the alcohol promotion? Or did you have to send off for it with 20 bottle tops or something?
TopPopper 28th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Request Time (1976) | This label, TAG, is written out on the sleeve as the "Ten Album Group", and is a compilation from other TAG releases. As this cat number is TAG 10, it seems to be the last of ten - strange idea to set up a label just to issue 9 albums and a best-of. Wonder what the story is...
TopPopper 28th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | They've got the latest vinyl pressing in my local Sainsbury's. I'll have a look when I go down later.
TopPopper 28th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | I don't think it ever has been. Do you have an example? (I can well imagine it's been airburshed out from merchandise like cups and T-shirts from time to time, but the actual record sleeve?)
TopPopper 15th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumWings - Back To The Egg (1979) | ELO might have listened to a lot of Macca in the 70s, but Macca seems to have checked out a few ELO album covers, by the look of this one.
TopPopper 14th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumELO - Time (1982) | Did this really come out in 1981, contemporary with the first edition?
mod edit: unlikely so until proven - no date.
TopPopper 5th Jun 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Rubber Soul (1966) | Great record - shouldn't the cover be viewed at 90 degrees though?
TopPopper 6th May 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumDionne Warwick - Presenting Dionne Warwick (1964) | So the story goes.. Burt and Hal had lined up "Make It Easy on Yourself" for Miss Warwick. When they told her they'd decided to give the song to someone else, she stormed out, calling back over her shoulder, "Don't make me over!"
Ker-ching!

TopPopper 5th May 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumSmokey Robinson And The Miracles - Time Out For Smokey Robinson And The Miracles (1969) | I've hidden it. Haven't deleted it in case it's some weird mis-printing or something, but I expect it was added in error.
TopPopper 23rd Apr 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumCarpenters - Carpenters (1971) | [YouTube Video]
This is a special song. Finest 1970s pop, in a nutshell.
TopPopper 14th Apr 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumFleetwood Mac - Rumours (1977) | I'm sensing you don't like it, Lee.
TopPopper 10th Apr 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Abbey Road (1969) | Unknown, although some have said they think it's Linda McCartney. Apparently the official version is that it was a passer-by who got in front of the lens, and they just decided it looked good with her breezing past. This is a good place for info and trivia on the album cover.
