Notes Even though Mr. Pell is a prosperous jazz saxofonist and bandleader, he was best known for leading primarily west coast jazz octets in the 1950s. Some of the octet players with whom he was associated with were Pepper Adams, Benny Carter, Marty Paich and Art Pepper. Furthermore, Mr. Pell was a record producer at Tops, Uni and Liberty records at where he arranged some tunes of Gary Lewis and the Playboys. In 1961, Mr. Pell had played the alto saxophone and clarinet in honor of bandleader John Kirby when the I Remember John Kirby disc of 33.33 rpm was recorded. Finally, Mr. Pell was the recording session leader of the tune No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In), which was a prosperous tune of the T-Bones in late 1965 and early 1966. Images
