Atlantic mono masters, 11000 series (1949-63)1949 - July 1963_______________ As with many labels, Atlantic Records assigned internal master numbers to LP sides. There are several reasons why these numbers are significant, and well worth tracking. First off, the master numbers cut across Atlantic's entire swath of subsidiary and distributed labels...lending order to the mayhem of its output! The master numbers were also assigned at the mastering stage, fairly late in the gestation period for musical projects. This means that they correlate more closely with release order than catalogue numbers do, and are useful for dating. Early Atlantic LPs are scarce, and few pre-1955 titles appear on this site. The first Atlantic LP (ALS 110) bore the master numbers 11213 and 11214, so the mono series evidently started there.List of 259 Vinyl Albums by andrewt3660 Page 1 of 6 : Previous : Next :
