Notes

Alec Templeton was a prosperous composer, pianist and satirist despite the fact that he was blind from birth. After Mr. Templeton had studied piano under Lloyd Powell and Isador Goodman at the Royal Academy Of Music of London, he relocated to the United States where Mr. Templeton played with various orchestras and gave his first radio performances by means of The Rudy Vallee Show and The Magic Key of RCA.

Mr. Templeton's first recordings were by means of the Varieties record label, which was a subdivision of the Gramophone Company. A few years later, he did recordings for the RCA Victor, Columbia and Decca record labels, and also had his own radio program which was called the Alec Templeton Time.

When Mr. Templeton had experimented with the new recording standard of medium audio tape, he was able to record piano sounds at half-speed, then to play the music back doubly fast. The two discs of 33.33 rpm that were issued utilizing this technique were this album, the Magic Piano and "Smart Alec" which was the first disc of 33.33 rpm that was issued by means of the ABC-Paramount label.

After all these unforgettable musical contributions that Mr. Templeton had contributed to the musical world, he passed away in 1963 of an unknown illness in Greenwich, CT.
