Despite the fact that this was the first Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm that Lennie Tristano had recorded, Mr. Tristano was a reknowned jazz musician who was both musically educated and started his musical career in Chicago. This was one of the first discs of 33.33 rpm that contained tunes with multracking and altered tape-speed.

When Mr. Tristano decided to focus on teaching music during the 1950s, he had moved his studio from Manhattan to establish a new studio in the Hollis section of Queens. Not only was this the first Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm of Lennie Tristano, but this was also the first Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm that was issued in 1956.
