Theodore "Teddy Charles" Cohen was a jazz musician and composer who was educated at the Juilliard School Of Music a percussionist. Though Mr. Charles had played several musical instruments, he specialized in playing the drums, the vibraphone and the piano.

When Mr. Charles arrived in New York City, he hung out at the Jazz Loft, which was an apartment building that was located at 821 Sixth Avenue (Avenue Of The Americas) where many jazz musicians frequented and practiced their work.

The main work of Mr. Charles was recorded in the 1950s by means of polytonal albums, such as New Directions, Collaboration: West, Word From Bird and the Teddy Charles Tentet, which was recorded during three different sessions in January 1956. Furthermore, this disc of 33.33 rpm was indicated one of the "core collection" albums of "The Penguin Guide To Jazz."
