This is the second Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm that was issued by Shorty Rogers and his Giants. This is the disc thru which Mr. Rogers had managed to achieve the goals to make jazz enjoyable to the "inhabitants" of the planet Mars and to rid the negative connotation that the "Mars inhabitants" despised the beat of jazz music. Furthermore, Mr. Rogers had composed every tune except Dickie's Dream of this Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm.

Even though the first disc of 33.33 rpm (Atlantic 1212) of Shorty Rogers and his Giants was the first that had white characters of a black label background, this disc was also the first disc of 33.33 rpm that Nesuhi Ertegun had chosen to start the new Atlantic 1200 catalog series of such LP discs. However, this disc (Atlantic 1232) of Shorty Rogers and his Giants was the first Atlantic disc of 33 .33 rpm that was issued after the Atlantic Recording Studios had relocated from 234 West 56th Street to 157 W 57th Street.
