Notes

Although this is the very first disc of 33.33 rpm of Joe Turner, Mr. Turner started his singing career in the 1930s. His first disc contained the tunes Going Away Blues and Roll 'Em Pete was issued by means of the Vocalion 4607 disc of 78 rpm. Furthermore, some of these other tunes, such as Wee Baby Blues and Piney Brown Blues were originally issued in the 1930's and the 1940's. In fact, one of his most famous blues tune, which is not of this disc, was Around The Clock Blues, which was issued by means of the Stag 508 disc of 78 rpm in 1947.

During the 1950's, Mr. Turner recorded Honey Hush in 1953 and a newly recorded rendition in 1959. This tune was covered by many artists, most notably The Burnett Rock And Roll Trio. In 1954, Mr. Turner introduced and popularized Shake Rattle And Roll despite the fact that Bill Haley and the Comets is the more well-known rendition. Also, one of his best dance tunes, which was rarely ever played after the 1950's was Flip, Flop and Fly.
