When Thomas Talbert, who was a jazz pianist, composer and band leader, was drafted into the armed forces during the Second World War, he started who started a band leader, then became a composer at a military band in California. After Mr. Talbert was discharged, he conducted his own big band in California, but had decided to relocate to New York due to the fact that Mr. Talbert was denied a contract in Los Angeles.

In 1957, Mr. Talbert had gained fame in New York due to the success of the Wednesday’s Child disc of 33.33 rpm thru which he backed songstress Patty McGovern, and the prosperity of this LP, the Bix, Duke and Fats disc of 33.33 rpm of which the title refers to Leon Bismark “Bix” Beiderbecke, Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington and Thomas Wright “Fats” Waller. Furthermore, all tunes of this disc were composed by Bix, Duke, Fats and Thomas Talbert and this was the final Atlantic disc that Mr. Talbert had recorded.
