Notes

Wilbur De Paris was a trombone player and band leader, who was known to combine New Orleans jazz style with Swing music. A year after Mr. De Paris had started to play the saxophone, he worked in a plantation spectacular, which consisted of small traveling theatrical group of entertainers who were primarily employed in the Bookers Association in the southern part of the United States.

Not long after Mr. De Paris first heard jazz while he was a member of a summer show that played at the Lyric Theatre, he became acquainted with Louis Armstrong while Mr. De Paris had played saxophone at Tom Anderson's Cafe.

In the 1920's, Mr. De Paris established his first band, which was called the Cottonpickers. Sadly, after the Wall Street Crash of 1929, he went to New York to play with great jazz musicians and to make records.

In the late 1940's Wilbur and his brother Sidney De Paris had founded a band called the New New Orleans Jazz, which not only featured Omer Simeon, but this band became an important staple in New York City and internationally toured in the 1950s.

By means of this disc, all the tunes were recorded live at the Symphony Hall of Boston where Wilbur De Paris had performed a jazz and swing concert.
