Notes

This is the first and only disc of 33.33 rpm thru which Secondo “Conte” Candoli and Lou Levy had recorded. Mr. Candoli was a jazz trumpeter who joined the Woody Herman band after he finished secondary school in 1945. Both Mr. Candoli and his brother Pietro had remained with various other renowned trumpet players, such as Stan Kenton, Benny Goodman and Dizzy Gillespie.

After Mr. Candoli had departed from the Stan Kenton band, he formed his own group with Chubby Jackson (double bassist), Franco Rosolino (jazz trombonist) and Lou Levy (jazz pianist). Furthermore, Mr. Candoli had collaborated with Shorty Rogers by means of one Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm, which was Martians Come Back. Regardless that the names of Conte Candoli and Lou Levy were in large print by means of this Atlantic disc, they were accompanied by musicians such as Bill Holman (tenor saxophone), Leroy Vinnegar (bass) and Lorenzo Marable (drummer).

Although the Atlantic 1269 catalog # was the final disc of the Atlantic Jazz Series (the 1200 catalog ID #s) that was first released without any spiral fan mark, this disc, Atlantic 1268, was the second disc of the 1200 catalog ID #s) that was originally issued with the spiral fan logo by means of only the front jacket due to the fact that Atlantic and other record companies did not always issue their discs of 33.33 rpm catalog ID #s in chronological order.

Despite the fact that this disc of 33.33 rpm did not sell well, this disc has become a hard-to-find disc that could easily sell at $500 for an original sealed copy.
