Notes

Giacinto Figlia a.k.a. George Wallington was a jazz pianist and composer who was born in Sicilia, but had relocated to New York with his family one year after his birth. Though the father of George had presented him to classical music, George had become interested in listening to jazz after he heard a disc of Lester Young.

After George had got the name "Wallington" during his secondary school years, he quit school to play with various jazz musicians, such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Kai Winding and many more. Additionally, Mr. Wallington had led and recorded with bands that included jazz newcomers, such as Donald Byrd, Jackie McLean and Phil Woods by means of the Prestige and Atlantic record labels.

At the Atlantic records industry, Mr. Wallington had formed his trio that consisted of he, bassist Teddy Kotick and drummer Nick Stabulas, all who performed on these twelve tunes. Four of the five songs of the a side of this disc were composed by Mr. Wallington and one tune, Billie's tune, was written by his wife Billie. All the tracks of the b side are jazz and popular standards that were penned by various composers, such as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and many more.

Even though this was the only Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm thru which the George Wallington trio had recorded, this disc did not sell well, but Mr. Wallington played music for a few more years until he had relocated to Florida to work in his family-owned air conditioning business.
