By means of this disc of 33.33 rpm, John Lewis of the Modern Jazz Quartet presents Jazz Piano International by introducing three pianists named Derek Smith, a native of the United Kingdom, Dick Katz, a United States native who was born in Baltimore and Rene Urtreger, a native of France. All three pianists perform various tunes which were either composed by various American jazz artists or these pianists had composed their own scores.

Although this Atlantic disc sold very poorly, this disc is a highly sought-after record mainly by jazz music collectors. This was the final disc of 33.33 rpm of the Atlantic Jazz Series (the 1200 catalog ID #s) that was originally issued with the spiral fan logo by means of only the front jacket and where only the words “High Fidelity” appeared near the top left corner of the reverse jacket side and the Atlantic catalog ID# appeared near the top of the right corner of this jacket side.
