Notes

Chris Barber is a bandleader and a trombonist who with Monty Sunshine had formed a band that was called the Ken Colyer Jazzmen of which Anthony (Lonni) Donegan was a member. This band had played Dixieland jazz, ragtime, swing and blues music. After Mr. Colyer had departed from the band, Pat Halcox had become the new trumpet player and the band changed its name to the Chris Barber Band. Mr. Barber had helped the careers of many musicians, such as Lonni Donegan and Anna Ottilie Patterson, who was at one time his wife.

The most prosperous tune of the Chris Barber Band was a tune called Petit Fleur thru which Mr. Sunshine had played the solo clarinet and Mr. Barber had played the strings. This tune was first popular in the United Kingdom and eventually became an international success. Despite the success of Petit Fleur, this Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm did not sell well and is now a sought-after disc. Finally, this Atlantic disc was only monaurally issued.
