Although Bernard Stanley “Acker” Bilk was a renowned clarinet player, Mr. Bilk had composed the melody of a super prosperous tune that he had originally titled this tune “Jenny”, which was the name of his daughter. However, Mr. Bilk was requested that he change this title to “Stranger On The Shore”, so that this tune could be played thru the British television series of that same name.

At the time of this Sentimental Journey issue, Mr. Bilk was only well-known in the United Kingdom, but when the Stranger On The Shore ballad became an international success, Mr. Bilk not only had gained international fame, but this disc of 33.33 rpm had become a multi-million dollar seller when the Sentimental Journey reissue was retitled Stranger On The Shore. Furthermore, the Leon Young String Chorale had played the background instruments by means of all the tunes when this disc was originally issued and reissued a year later.

The front and reverse jackets and all the tunes of this particular Bilk disc (Sentimental Journey) had virtually remained unchanged when this disc was retitled Stranger On The Shore in March 1962. The only differences were that the Sentimental Journey title did not appear by means of the Stranger On The Shore disc and that Jenny was retitled Stranger On The Shore.

Finally, this Sentimental Journey disc of 33.33 rpm was first issued both monaurally and stereophonically thru which a black harp drawing and Atco in large white block letters were pressed by means of a yellow background label.
