Notes Margaret “Ann Richards” Borden, who was the wife of Stan Kenton, was a jazz singer who started to take singing lessons and had taught herself to play the piano. Ms. Richards had publically began to sing by means of the Pacific Coast genre, and was a member for a brief time of the band of Charlie Barnet. Afterward, Eddie Beal had brought Ms. Richards to the attention of Mr. Kenton who was so impressed with her musical talents that Mr. Kenton had her sing in his band until Mr. Kenton had helped Ms. Richards secure a recording contract with Capitol records. During Ms. Richards stay with Capitol records, she had recorded three discs of 33.33 rpm, which were “I’m Shooting High,” “The Many Moods Of Ann Richards” and “Two Much!” at their recording studio. A short time later, the Two Much disc, thru which Ms. Richards had sung with Mr. Kenton, Ms. Richards and Mr. Kenton had two children, but sadly had separated a few years after these children were born. After the Capitol records contract of Ms. Richards had expired, she had posed for photoshoots of the Playboy Magazine. Accordingly, these shoots had led to an action that was regarded morally inappropriate, and furthermore had led to public outrage. Eventually, Ms. Richards had signed a contract with Atco records, thru which she had recorded and had issued only one disc of 33.33 rpm, which is Ann, Man! By means of the title of this Atco disc, Ms. Richards had crooned twelve tunes that were all composed by various male songwriters. Thus, three of these twelve songs, which were “Yes Sir, That’s My Baby,” “Bewitched” and “Is You Is Or Is You Ain’t My Baby,” had reached national success by means of the Billboard and Cash Box hit parades during the rock era. Finally, this Atco disc of 33.33 rpm was first issued by means of a yellow label background that had a black harp drawing and Atco in white bold letters. Images
