Hi Phil. Thanks for the info on this album. I know the ORIGINAL issue was 1965 but it would not have had the label design as shown here. So with that in mind, we'll get our oh-so-friendly moderator to make the correction. Cheers! Actually though, I think EMI's Euro numbering system does go back quite a few years before 1969. A friend of mine has a German LP called "The Beatles Beat" on Odeon, issued back in 1964 or 65, it had this numbering system, with a 1C 062 prefix, though I can't recall the exact number on the record.
Hi Neil, Discogs have this edition as a 1970 issue, and I think that is probably right, due to the catalogue number - EMI didn't introduce this style of catalogue number (with 3C being the country code for Italy) until June 1969, and it seems that the original 1965 Italian issue was in a gatefold, with the label still called Parlophon (with no "e") in that country at that time. Similarly, the other Italian issue in this database (with 064 in the cat# instead of 062) is a 1979 issue, according to Discogs (apparently the year is in the deadwax runout for that one).
It was. But it was more than 20 years ago since it existed. These days I tend to haunt Rice's second-hand book and record shop in Newcastle West, at what is referred to as the Bank Corner, Hunter and Hannell streets, still called that even though the bank is long since gone. I visit Rices every second Sunday and on other occasions when I've a mind to call in when I'm in Newcastle.
This was one of two Beatles LPs I bought at Graphic Novel, the other was a British re-issue of Beatles For Sale, which has been posted here often enough so I won't bother putting my copy on here.
Took a bit of work to clean this up a bit. Can't remember when I bought this(well over 20 years ago) but I do know where. It was a shop, then located in Pacific Street, Newcastle East(NSW, Australia), called Graphic Novel. The shop's name suggested a more dignified name for what we, as kids called them, comics. The shop, owned by one Dietmar Lederwasch, no longer exists(as far as I'm aware).
