23skidoo 6th Jun 2020		For anyone interested in the rather diverse origins of the tracks (and as a Haley collector I will agree that most of them do count as rarities): A1-2: A 1961 single for Gone Records (A2 was also released on Orfeon Records in Mexico). A3-8: Recorded for Warner Bros 1960-61; except for Candy Kisses they were only issued on singles. A9: A demo recorded during the late Decca Records era c.1958-59, released on a collector's EP in the 1970s. A10: A single from Haley's obscure sessions for Newtown (a.k.a. Nicetown and New-Hits) Records in 1963. B1: Single by Cappy Bianco (aka Joe Olivier) that was backed by the Comets in 1959. B2 and B5: From Haley's 1964 sessions for Guest Star Records, released on the album Rock-a-Round the Clock King. The only non-rarities in the set as the Guest Star recordings are widely available on CD and vinyl. B3-4: Recorded for APT Records for singles in 1965. B6-8: Recorded for singles released by Orfeon Records of Mexico c.1963-64. B9-10: Off-air recordings of Haley's performances from the 1959 German movie Hier bin ich - heir bleib' ich, B9 featuring Catarina Valente. As I mentioned in my earlier comment, I bought this in 1991 during a visit to London and with the exception of the two Guest Star tracks it was my first time hearing any of them, which made this a valuable acquisition.



23skidoo 10th Aug 2014		The label misspells the title "Rareties". This is completely anecdotal, but there is a blog entry about this record that suggests it dates from 1979 and was made in Malaysia. However, it's possible it was reissued by someone else because the copy I own I purchased in 1991 at one of the Virgin or HMV stores in London and you wouldn't expect them to carry outright bootlegs. Not to mention keeping such a thing in stock for 12 years.
