Notes

This is one of the more confusing Axis releases - same title as the Atco release but vastly different tracks.
Discogs have got this one totally wrong - wrong tracks and image.
Just noticed no composer credits - bugger will have to do some research.

wellll, according to both labels, the lp was (p) & © by wea records pty. limited in the year 19 - presumably a.d., though neither b.c. nor a.h. can, yr hmbl srppnt.'d opine, safely be excluded. . .

the rear jacket refers to it as an original recording by wea records pty. limited, and only distributed by axis records - so is it possible it's a budget label reissue of an earlier - possibly, considerably earlier - xxxxian compilation?

whether this was put together by wea records pty. limited, or by elektra's earlier xxxxian licencee, so long as they controlled the xxxxian licence(s) to all the buffalo springfield's recordings released upon this, and to the reproduction of the artwork & album design, it's legal. arguably mean, nasty and/or underhand - especially to xxxxian buffalo springfield fans unaware of the nature of the beast - but legal.

This artist is American, right? So I can assume the US release, with identical title and cover, is the original. How does this record exist with only one track in common with the original?

neilf: no need to name them all "here" - so long as you "45lp"° the lot in double-quick time! ( :winks: )

° - yes, "33lp" would make more sense; "but". . .

I have quite a few Axis LPs in my "pile of platters" but please don't ask me to name them all, I'd be on the site continuously for a month! Oooh my aching fingers!

The last axis album I bought was the best of John Farnham after I saw a advert for the John Farnham phenomenon by J&B Records back in 1987

Yep, Axis Records - 1971 to 1992. Underwent three changes to trademark design, two changes to LP label design The third trademark change coincided with moving from vinyl to CD.

I think axis folded around 1992

It's a similar situation to what happened with the Music For Pleasure label in Australia, initially bundled up under the EMI brand, but then started issuing product, for which EMI had no connection, this the MFP label drifted away from EMI here in Australia, yet in Britain, MFP was, and remains firmly entrenched in the EMI group. The only difference is that Axis stayed in the EMI fold in Australia while MFP drifted away.(there's a song in there, mention it to Doby Grey when you get a moment... ha-ha)

Cat. no. wise it fits right in with the other Axis releases so yeah odd EMI not mentioned anywhere.

Jasper, I can give you one composer credit, Tr.B4 - For What It's Worth composed by Stephen Stills.

EMI's brand doesn't appear anywhere on this issue, but surely EMI would still have pressed and distributed it.
