 McKuen has reportedly claimed that members of Bill Haley's Comets played backing on some of these recordings. This has NOT been confirmed, though it is worth noting that Brunswick was affiliated with Decca, the Comets' label up to the end of 1959. Personally, I don't hear anything that sounds like Comets, especially on the Mummy's cover of Shake Rattle and Roll.
