Some collectors just don't buy live albums at all. Probably due to the indifferent sound quality of most live albums or the difficulty capturing the excitement of a live gig. So as far as they go this live in the studio album by Slade is pretty good. By the way this is the first album I bought with my own money so I know the album but I don't own a copy these days.
Some live albums that are still in my collection are "Live At The Apollo - James Brown", "Stupidity - Dr. Feelgood", "Space Ritual - Hawkwind", "Live Nassau Coliseum '76 - David Bowie", "801 Live - 801 and "The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads - Talking Heads" all of which I consider to be excellent live albums as is Slade Alive. I couldn't possibly decide which of these is better than another but I do think if a live album can capture the band or artist in form at a peak in their career with some of the atmosphere of a live show it's an excellent live album. The rest is down to personal taste I guess.
