 Added gatefold and promotional label images. Talk about bad timing! Barnaby Records (owned by Andy Williams) decided to try a gimmick and release a "double" album without anything on one side of each disc. Ostensibly this would allow the album to be played without having to flip it over on stackable turntables, which were very popular at the time. The fates would conspire to make this a foolhardy endeavor as the OPEC Oil Embargo began a few months after release in October 1973 and made such production prohibitively expensive.

Sand featured Jack Meussdorffer as chief songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist. He would be joined by bassist Rich Gooch, also from Sand as founding members along with Marv and Rindy Ross of the band Quarterflash. Meussdorffer would perform under the name Jack Charles (Charles being his middle name) in Quarterflash.
