Just to close a discussion loop: here is a link to 45cat's listing for a 2-EP set covering the A side and part of the B, but omitting the Johnny Cash track. I wonder if that's on another EP?

The back cover {Image #1338275} is also notable in it being one of the first appearances in the U.S. of the Helvetica font (albeit in hot-metal Linotype form, in the column relating to Johnny Cash and his career up to the point of this record). {Images #1338276 & 1338277} would presumably be a Bridgeport pressing, just before the newer Pitman, NJ plant (which began limited operations in late October 1960) had its official opening on 17 May 1961; certainly the label fonts are Bridgeport's and it's a deep groove . . .

The sound effects, which were recorded at the Grand Canyon, do not really intrude upon the integrity of the suite, but are inserted between movements and then repeated during Johnny Cash's narrated track.
Not a bad rendition of Grofé's suite; I'd like to hear a stereo copy.
