Le Parolier 10th Feb 2023		Capitol Yule Discs Win Accolades Of the customary quantity of records devoted to the regional aspects of Christmas, this year's priority offering is Capitol DT 10484 ($4.79) titled ''Christmas Music of France (Noels Populaires).'' To judge from it appearance in what Capitol calls ''Duophonic'' stereo, it is not a new offering from the Jean-Paul Kreder Choir and ''Les Petits Chanteurs a La Croix de Bois'', but the processing, in this enhanced electronic guise, of a monaural original. Whatever the source, the experience is a richly rewarding one, no less for the material than for its brightly clear vocal performances. Included on the side by the Jean-Paul Kreder Choir is ''Mon Beau Sapin'', in which the thrice familiar ''Tannenbaum'' takes on a curiously Gallic coloration, as much for its unconventional harmonization and rhythmic lilt as for the French text. The other matter is no less charming if decidedly less familiar, running to such titles as ''Bouquet de Noel no. 3 : La Nuit'', ''Il est ne le divin enfant'' and ''Petit Papa Noel'' on this side and ''Noels : Musette'', ''Le message des Anges'' and an extract from ''Le Petit Evanegliaire'' in addition to the Provencal ''Un Flambeau Jeannette, Isabelle'' and ''Allon pastoureaux'' from Languedoc on side 2. It's all very French, very artless (wich is far from saying uartful) and refreshingly uncommon. (The Honolulu Advertiser, December 17, 1967, page 109)
