Notes

The following information has been extracted from the works of Ron Roberts who issued what was, at the time, a noble attempt to a complete chronological accounting of Connie's releases, both domestic and international.

"In June and July 1959, Connie recorded 24 million-selling titles. Of rock'n'roll and Country origin, several were appropriate for either category. HEARTS OF STONE, with its rock treatment, was such an example, as were BYE BYE LOVE and SINGING THE BLUES. They were, however, considered more appropriate for the companion release of MGM E/SE 3795 COUNTRY & WESTERN GOLDEN HITS. When planning both LPs, the enormous success of LISTICK ON YOUR COLLAR had not been foreseen, and in Autumn 1959, it became undeniably more topical to include this in place of STUPID CUPID.

Original album sleeves were issued housing the revised LP compilation and a loose sheet of paper (scanned and included herewith) stating: Please note the following change of song titles on liner Connie Francis Sings Rock 'n' Roll Million Sellers E 3794. Heartbreak Hotel in place of Hearts Of Stone. Lipstick On Your Collar in place of Stupid Cupid. Thank you. M-G-M Records.

The stereo edition, catalog number MGM SE 3794, features different "takes" of both I HEAR YOU KNOCKIN' and DON"T BE CRUEL. These have accordingly been described as MONO VERSION and STEREO VERSION."

My copy has a black label with Lipstick at B1 and the cover has the correct song list. Connie is at her best with up tempo rock and roll.
