ppint. 5th Nov 2017		thanks for the link, beatlejohn; frank kelly freas was one of the best sf & fantasy magazine & paperback cover artists for four decades, and the well-registered colour-printed large format books reproducing his artwork are well worth tracking down and buying - both "frank kelly freas: the art of science fiction" and "a separate star" are very good.

ppint. 2nd Nov 2017		the front cover art by (frank) kelly freas is a re-use or re-creation of his classic artwork for the 10/1953 issue of astounding science fiction, illustrating tom godwin's story, "the gulf between". his extension of the composition over the further panels qualifies the whole work to be regarded by some as pastiche: but, if so, it is at least "self-pastiche". . .
