@ppint: On trade fairs I often saw a counterfeit, made from the third version with the white pink / white "I" label (1970). The german 1975 release Ariola Island 88395 claimed too be stereo but it wasn´t.....The UK re-release stiill stated "mono", which is right. The only ART tracks in stereo are the six 1971 remixes on the Island box set (CD version).
as per the single, on both the yuk island WIP-6019-A and the german fontana 269 371 TF, the composer of "what's that sound" is misidentified as "mills" - it should be (steve) (or stephen) "stills".
° - and, arguably, the song title should've had its introductory "stop, hey" reinstated - but sfaiaa no vinyl release of art's track has that. nor does yr hmbl srppint. know why there's no trace of "for what it's worth", which was its main title, after all. . .
manic marmalade: hmmm... if you don't already have spooky tooth's first three-and-a-half lps, it could well be worth your while investigating "spooky tooth - the island years" (602547053114) on cd: you'd then have very nearly all by the "real core group" as is worth having (imnsho *g*) - just the v.i.p.s/(sometime) vipps to go.
(the pierre henri "collaboration" wasn't really a group/band recording: not all of them were involved, they (individually nor collectively) were allowed minimal creative input, and thought of it later as "work done for hire" - dispiriting enough, together with their fairly low lp sales, to set them drifting apart , despite remaining a popular gigging band live.) (after that, and "the last puff", i don't think they maintained a consistent line-up for very many months on-end.)
Thanks for pointing out that 'Weird' link esfera, and for adding It's All About. Looking at WIP 6022 on 45cat I see that we don't yet have the French issue listed, maybe you can oblige? (You can of course follow the links from there to Spooky Tooth, The V.I.P.’s and Art)
