Agreed. I forgot to remember that it wasn't until WONDERFULNESS that Warners issued a Bill Cosby album in stereo (the first three were originally released only in mono; by 1966 rechanneled versions with tons of added echo and reverb hit the market). Even so, I doubt that bringing a pair of tape machines to record in 'stereo' even on location back in '59 would have been prohibitively expensive, and would have added separation to the audience and some ambience that is lost in flat mono. Can't argue with success, though, her albums did very well although it took some time from the original release dates of her first two to finally get national attention.

@EMB2014: Very likely they didn't bother because the comedy albums tended to be low-budgeted affairs involving a single person at the microphone, making stereo pointless. Also, I do believe it was considered quite expensive to send stereo recording units out on location, so an orchestra performing live would likely receive preferential treatment to someone like Rusty Warren whose albums were not produced with sound quality in mind, let's face it.

Rusty's first stereo Lp...what took Jubilee so long? Although they jumped on the stereo bandwagon in the late '50s like many labels did, their comedy Lp's in the 2000 series were all mono, as far as I know--not even rechanneled (just as well there, but surprising they didn't try to get the extra buck for a stereo pressing).
