My blue vinyl copy has two side four labels on one disc.

Their previous two releases ( UA-LA679-G & UA-LA546-G), as well as the U.K. version of "Out Of The Blue" all show "Louis Clark" so that is probably the correct spelling. More info on Mr. Clark here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Clark.

Is the arranger Lewis or Louis Clark? Labels show both. Image 937910 has Lewis and image 940652 has Louis.

Which is correct?

@ an6y66, I punched-out and built the spacecraft. The completed model was placed in the room of the Association for Computing Machinery special interest group at Univ. of Illinois - Chicago (Circle).
@ musictom, ding ding ding I bought a bunch of E.L.O. LPs with U.A. labelling at the Music Warehouse after the distribution was switched. The price on the cut-outs had gone up a quarter to $1.50, so this double LP cost $3.00.

You might try putting a different colour card between the lid of the scanner and the disc too, as when the light from the scanner shines on the face of some bright labels, it reflects, and amplifies the brightness... sometimes bleaching out the image...

... with coloured vinyl discs, the label occupies a smaller part of the overall image and the predominant colour can change how the light reflects on the labels as it bounces back and forth. If the vinyl is transparent, or translucent, the light passes through the disc, where it is refracted according to the colour of the disc... it is then reflected off the pure white underside of the scanner lid, and refracted again... causing those shifts in tone or even colour.

In the same way that sunlight refracted through the atmosphere produces the blue colour of the sky... so maybe a different colour card could cancel out this effect, or compensate?

Worth experimenting with different colours for different coloured vinyls if this works/

- phew, I was channelling my old science teacher there for a moment, I'll now stop speaking in tongues and cast the spirit out :) -

OK musictom, I have uploaded my rather purplish scan to see if color can be adjusted. My attempts at that always seemed to result in greenish colors. Please delete if it is unable to be properly altered. I am leaving in the morning for a few days and may try the phone idea when I return next week. Thanks for the suggestions.

You might try a camera phone rather than the scanner. Also you might send one in and maybe we can adjust it.

Lo and behold...going through a box of unfiled LP's I discovered that I indeed do have a copy on the blue vinyl. My scanner cannot copy a blue vinyl album for the life of me. Several tries on this and others always ends up with a purplish example which is not worthy of adding to the website. (It is in pristine condition too!)

I was a little surprised to find that the poster and inner sleeve images had not already been added to this, after all the activity on it. They are now here. I always thought that this album design, despite it being a double LP and having all the inserts, was a little unsatisfying. Although I have always got a kick out of the "spaceship" having what appears to be 45RPM records showing through the glass on the front, and albums (or small hole singles) showing through the glass on the back cover. I also wish I had one of the blue vinyl pressings, but each time I have ever seen one it has been trashed.

Couldn't have been too much later as it switched to CBS distribution in the middle of its chart run.

Added set of labels with a smaller UA logo at the top and a much brighter blue background. I assume these are much later reissues?

 I believe my images {937909 & 937910} plus 467939 - 467940 are from Columbia, Pitman, NJ.

This was an interesting one from a retail perspective. When CBS took over Jet distribution, they re-released this under the CBS consolidated numbering scheme. UA (Capitol?) dumped all their inventory into the cutout market. So you had a situation where a high charting album could be purchased for full price or at a discount from the cut-out bins.

Just built the Spaceship cut out, anyone else ever attempted it? It rather awkward and having 40 year old card probably didn't help the process!

Added another flyer which came with some issues. It allowed you to send off for a poster

My copy has all the same additional merchandise but is also pressed on blue, transparent vinyl - not a promo.

added variant labels with much smaller font on side 4. The labels also have a matte finish not the glossy labels like the others. Can only upload disc two because the disc one that is paired with it is the same as the one already uploaded. Obviously got switch about in a record shop a while back.
